Photograph of the 1976-1977 Gilman School Debating clubs. The Pnyx are on the top left and the Aereopagus are on the bottom right. The debate was about the following: "Resolved: It is in the best interest of the United States to exert worldwide moral leadership regardless of its effects on political detente and economic cooperation with the Soviet Union." The Pnyx, arguing for the affirmative, won, and Barry Saunders '77 won best speaker. Photograph published in the 1977 Cynosure, page 14. |
