Description
According to Earle , within Prince George's County and "located about two and one-half miles northwest of Nottingham and the Patuxent River is 'Mattaponi, ' one of the earliest homes of the Bowie family . The house is built entirely of brick and was constructed between 1745 and 1750 . The land on which this house stands was first granted by Chas . Calvert , Lord Baltimore , to Robert Brooke , who was born in England in the seventeenth century , and it was called 'Brookes Reserve.
