Cover of program designed by James P. Wharton for Collection Overview: The Wine and Food Society of Baltimore Collection consists of a sampling of 31 historical documents, invitations, and dinner programs from the years 1947 to 1982. The programs themselves contain menus as well as detailed recipes of the general membership dinners, which were held twice a year, in the spring and fall. These dinners featured haute cuisine and were elaborately planned occasions based on particular themes, such as A Creole Dinner, which was the Society’s inaugural event held May 26, 1947. The Society itself was made up of leaders in business, society, and the gourmand world of Baltimore.
