Collection Overview: The Enoch Pratt Free Library Archives collection consists of 148 items from its history. That history includes various library cards issued between January 5, 1886 (the day the library opened its doors) and 1940, charts documenting books borrowed, numerous photographs of its founder Enoch Pratt and of its head librarians over its first 65 years, and engravings and photographs of the original main library building with its annex and of the "new" central library building built between 1931 and 1933 and its neighborhood branches.
