Recitation Hall at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in the late 1880s. Built in 1853, Recitation Hall was where classes were first held at the Academy.

Overview: The United States Naval Academy Photographs Collection contains 54 images of the buildings and grounds of the Academy between the years 1861 and 1904. Included in the collection are images of buildings that were demolished to make way for the present Bancroft Hall. Also included are images that show some of some nineteenth century sailing ships used to train midshipmen in seamanship.
